So Much Awesome!

What an amazing year 2014 has been already! But I recently heard some more incredible news about GILDED. I’m absolutely thrilled and overwhelmingly thankful because GILDED made it onto Amazon’s 2014’s Top-Selling New YA Releases!

Thank YOU for all of your support in helping make this happen. GILDED ranked 48th overall, which is wowsers!

And as you all know, 10% of all the sales from GILDED goes right to purchasing medicine for North Korean TB patients through the Eugene Bell Foundation. It blows me away that together we’re able to have a small, but real impact on a country that is desperate for food, warmth, medicine, and love.

Also I want to announce the winners for the Reviewer Appreciation Giveaway. So many beautiful reviews that literally made me want to race out of my house and give you all big, giant hugs. Announcing the Gilded Series Book 3!!!!!!!

I’m absolutely thrilled to share with you that yes, there will be a Gilded Book #3! The Gilded Series will be a trilogy!

I know, you guys have been hounding me ever since SILVERN released and you got to the end of the book and were like:

And you wanted to hunt me down.

Especially since I didn’t have a solid YES answer for a book 3 yet. But thankfully you didn’t kill me because now I can be here to tell you that YES there will be a Gilded Series Book 3!

Last night I happily signed the contract with Skyscape and I got the go ahead to share the news with you.

There have been lots of guesses and speculation on what book three will be called. Bronzed seems to be the most popular. But that’s not it. Are you ready for it…..

Book Three will be called BRAZEN!

Just like in GILDED and SILVERN, the title symbolizes something from the book plus as you can guess BRAZEN is a double entendre (play on words).

When it will be released? Look for BRAZEN to meet the world on Sept. 29, 2015!

So what is this book about? Hmm… pretty much anything I tell you will be either spoilery for SILVERN or for BRAZEN.

But I can tell you:

1. It’s set in South Korea and _______. Oh! Can’t tell you that one! But I will say it’s a place I’ve traveled to.

2. All of the old characters and mythological creatures are back along with a few new ones.

3. You will get to attend a Grand Council meeting.

4. The stakes are even higher than before with more battle scenes, more strain on relationships, more mythological creatures, and well, MORE!

5. I literally cried three times while writing this book. I used to scoff at writers who cried over their manuscripts. I scoff no more because yep, I’m guilty!

6. It’s my favorite of the three. So just for that reason you’ll need to make sure you read it.

Okay, so I’m going to go now and be perfectly calm all day and write peacefully at my desk.

GILDED Is Headed to Germany!

I’m so excited that can finally share the awesome news with you all. GILDED has been translated in German and will be sold in Germany!

This version will be released on November 11, 2014! The title, GOLDGLANZ, is a direct translation.

Last week I went on a book tour with three fabulously talented authors, Jessie Humphries (author of the KILLING RUBY ROSE series), Lori M. Lee (author of GATES OF THREAD AND STONE), and Meredith McCardle (author of THE EIGHTH GUARDIAN).

It was an amazing trip not only because we got to teach teens about writing, that we got to connect with fans, or that we got to meet teachers, booksellers and other authors, but also because we became best of friends. I love these girls!

So you want the recap. For the short and sweet version, check out our video which includes the school visits as well as our fun shenanigans along the way.

Day 1-

Basic High School, Vegas

Such a great group of kids who were really excited about writing. We literally jumped off the plane and dashed over to the school to make it in time for our visit with them.

Then we drove up to Utah and stayed at Jessie’s in-laws house. They fed us yummy smoothies and took pics of us. By the way, the views in Utah are to die for.

Day 2-

Parowan High School, Utah

This school was like stepping back in time. It had all of the charm of the Gilmore Girls.

Cedar High School, Utah

The students were so fun at this school. Jessie’s writing friend, Tasha Seegmiller, teaches here.

Main Street Bookstore, Utah

Big shout out to Megan O’Sullivan, the bookstore owner, who asked the scariest and funniest questions of the whole trip.

Day 3-

Coronado High School, Nevada

The room we were in was packed out! Despite being so squeezed in and kids sitting on the floor, it was a great visit! The students were engaged and excited about our writing contest, Sky’s The Limit. Afterwards we were mobbed by the students wanting to buy our books. It was crazy! But a good crazy.

Northwest Career and Technical Academy, Nevada

This school is gorgeous! We were super impressed with the media center and the cafeteria (pictured with the tarps). They had music blasting outside. It was a place we wanted to go to school at.

Then we went on a little trip to Hoover Dam!

Finally I got to see Hoover Dam! YAY!!!!!

Day 4-

West Career and Technical Academy, Nevada

These students were so sweet! They got us flowers and treated us like celebrities. Great group of students.

Woodbury Middle School

What a great group of students. They were pumped about reading and writing and asked great questions.

Chaparral High School, Nevada

I love how the kids started taking notes here without any teacher telling them to!

Day 5- Vegas Valley Book Festival

All four of us had a blast at the festival. Plus I got to fan girl by getting pictures with all of my favorite authors like Sherry Thomas, Demitria Lunetta, and Renee Collins. But I’m kicking myself for not getting MORE pictures. We were all just having way too much fun.

We ended our trip celebrating with Jessie at her book launch of RESISTING RUBY ROSE. If you haven’t gotten her books yet, GO right now and buy them or borrow them and read them! They are awesome.

SILVERN Book Launch Recap!

Last Saturday was the book launch celebration for SILVERN! Thanks to friends and family and everyone coming together! You guys made it to be the most magical launch I could ever have hoped for. It was held in Mead Gardens, which is one of the most beautiful parks in Central Florida (the pictures don’t really capture the oaks, hanging moss, ponds and gardens) and we had a huge amount of space to play in and have so much fun!

I had a chance to talk (and I might have shed a tear or two!) about the book and what it means to me. I also read a portion of the first chapter and left the crowd with a cliff-hanger (grin).

My parents got me a really cool gift showing both my books and their rankings on Amazon (which is also super cool!). I definitely turned red during that part.

Big thanks to the dream team who came and helped set up and take down the event:

To Florida’s board breaking champions, Breakwondo, who were amazing! They performed board breaking, concrete breaking, and ice breaking! Plus they did martial arts fighting sequences as seen in the book, the poomse forms, and self-defense. They compete and perform throughout Florida, so check out their site for their latest events or to train with them!

And here’s a video I made from the footage people sent me of their performance. I love how they work with all ages! It’s so impressive.
