October is here! And so is hot cider, sweet donuts, and great books to curl up with as the cold begins to seep around us. October has been a great month. I’m so excited to be presenting at the Get Lit Book Festival this Saturday, helping to raise money for the Battle of the Books club at Coral Gables High School. I’ll be presenting a World Building workshop with Vivi Barnes and sharing my experiences with KindleVella.
Tickets are available here. I hope to see you there!

THANK YOU once again for letting me share my stories with you.
I have exciting news! I’m embarking on my first serialized storytelling adventure with Amazon’s Kindle Vella. The book is called THE DREAM HEIST, a YA thriller.
Kindle Vella is a brand new program Amazon is launching where readers can subscribe to books and read each episode in a serialized format. The aspect I love about Kindle Vella is that I will be able to share my thoughts, fun facts, and inspirations in each episode within the author notes section. I’m hoping that this will be a great way for you to get an insider peek into the world I’ve created for you.
The Dream Heist spins an action-packed, near-future thriller in the vein of Inception meets The Bourne Identity.
Eighteen-year-old Aria Hale loves her job as an intern at her father’s dream therapy company where she enters dementia patient’s dreams to save their memories. When she enters Patient 145’s dream and discovers the dreamer is a boy from her class, she begins to question the company’s true purpose.
But everything changes when Aria discovers their lab has been ransacked, two technicians are murdered, and her father is missing.
Determined to find her father, Aria and her friends embark on a harrowing hunt across continents using the dreams of their enemies to guide them. But this dangerous journey plunges her into a world she never bargained for: deception, intrigue, and even love. As she races to save her father and hunt down her enemies, she soon realizes she’s in fact the one being hunted. And her dreams are the greatest danger of all.
This gripping adventure will propel you into a world of suspense, romance and intrigue.

Do you have a novel that you wrote long ago and put it away, but now wonder if its worth revisiting? In this video, I share my thoughts, tips and personal experience based off of my drawer novel (THE PRINCESS AND THE PAGE) that got published by Scholastic Press.
Are you feeling like your fantasy could be stretched? Does it feel cliché or familiar? Here is a tip to get you brainstorming and coming up with new ideas!
I’ve had requests asking for me to share what inspired me to write THE PRINCESS AND THE PAGE. So on my YouTube channel, I’m sharing about what inspired the book and where the concept came from. Ideas are everywhere! Sometimes they come in the most unexpected places.
Are you looking to fast draft your manuscript? Or perhaps you’re participating in NaNoWriMonth? I am! Or at least a version of NaNo as I’m in the middle of revisions too. If you are drafting, buddy up with me here and we can fast draft together! I’ve created a video for you with tips and thoughts on my fast drafting techniques. Hopefully it will help you along the way. Also, if you’re looking for the plotting template I mention in the video, you can find it on my Writer’s Resource page under Book Plot Outline.
I’m thrilled to share with you a collaboration video I created with twenty-seven of my middle grade author friends. If you are looking for a fun laugh and a new book to read then check out our First Lines video. We had a blast creating this video and sharing the first lines of our books. We hope this will help you discover your next reading adventure and enter a whole new world one page at a time! Happy reading!
A HUGE thank you to Scholastic for allowing me to read the 1st chapter of THE PRINCESS AND THE PAGE during school closures! Many of you have asked me to read the first chapter while you are doing your part in social distancing. I’m so proud of all of you for staying home even though I know it’s tough. Remember you can visit my YouTube channel for videos or go to The Gilded Series website for games! I created this video for you to watch during this time of school closures. In the comments, I’d love to find out what you would write if you had a magical pen that made stories come true. Or draw a picture of it and share it with me on social media. I hope you enjoy the video!

“A
smart, peppery, action-packed plot teams up with playful, astute characters.”

“The
pace is effective for building a deep sense of mystery. Slowing down works for
the overall mystery… particularly since, in Keira’s first-person narrative,
readers will discover clues right along with her.” (Booklist)
“The

young readers and lure budding princesses to read about the sapphire blue pen’s
