I have always thought Hawaii to be just another one of those touristy places and because of that, we’ve avoided visiting. But this year we decided to use it as a layover from Seoul. Most all of our friends have done it and said it helped with jet lag.
I was wrong. I loved Hawaii!
It’s like all the convenience and ease of the US with the exotic location. We just went to Oahu but that alone was such a fun place to go.
We visited the zoo, Diamond Head Crater, Diamond Head Lighthouse, the North Shore and saw the turtles, the battleships, did a Luau, hung out at the beach, and ate lots and lots of food.
So I’ve changed my mind. Hawaii is totally rocking and I highly recommend it.
In places that survive on tourism (like the USVI where I’m from) there are always spots one can go that the average tourist doesn’t get to. Hawaii has the advantage of being not only a bigger chain, but has larger islands. I bet there are all sorts of places tourist hardly ever goes.

It looks beautiful and sounds like lots of fun! I’ve always wanted to go see the combo of beach and mountains both equally accessible. Was it very humid? Looks like the weather was great! More wonderful memories for you and your family.
As I said on Facebook, I loved your pictures, Christina. In a weird way, they brought Nichelle a little closer to me. She’s taking pictures, but hasn’t sent any yet. She’s on Maui. Rick, on the other hand, was born in Oahu. He really wants to go back sometime to visit the place he grew up.
Kim- yeah its a great place to visit Bish- so true! we accidently found a beach that I don’t think many tourists have found. very nice. Jen- no, not humid at all. a little chilly for me at nights due to the wind coming off the coast, but you know me and how easily I get cold! Kelly- yes! you’ll have to go Rena- That is so cool that you’re daughter is there now. I’m sure she is loving it and will have some fabulous pictures.
Glad you and your family are having fun! I dont’ know why, but Hawaii has never been on the top of my list for vacation places I want to go…I’ve always thought it was beautiful in pictures…I just never think about it when it is time to plan for vacation…grin..
I would love to go to Hawaii! My good friend just flew out there this morning. I saw her off to the airport and was so tempted to just buy a ticket and go with her! I’ve never been!
Ello- I know the temptation! Nandini- Great! I think you’ll like it. Definitly visit Diamond Head while you’re there if your kids don’t mind hiking. But my three year old did it!

Hawaii looks gorgeous, Christina! Can’t wait to go there one day . . . thanks so much for sharing your beautiful pictures. And what a cute family you have! 🙂
My son has always wanted to go – maybe sometime in the future. Thanks for the review of it.

What an awesome picture!! You’ve inspired me. Next trip to Australia we’re stopping over in Hawaii instead of LA.
