In Need of Pampering

My hubby is off to the southern tip of Korea, Kyongju and Jeju-do, for a high school discovery trip. I’m totally jealous (Sure, I’ve been, but still!) because Kyongju is the setting for my Korean taekwondo story. I could handle some traveling all in the name of research.

But I’m trying to be positive here so this week I’m allowing myself unlimited coffee (Starbucks of course) and extra helpings of dark chocolate. I need a little pampering, right? Plus, I’m going to revise the second half of my book like a madwoman. So I’ll be plenty busy.

My instructor, Jill, recommended that I write a different ending that would up the anti and stakes of the novel. So I did (yeah!) but it’s a horrible mess of a first draft so that’s what I’ll be working on. (Wish me luck.)

How about you? What do you do to pamper yourself?

Oooh – hot chocolate – you have put a lovely idea in my head.

Hot chocolate with a book sounds like the best idea right now!

I pamper myself too much – I need to get cracking on my current WIP. Good luck with the new ending!

  2. I love to be lazy and read or watch TV and movies all day. And eating out is always a nice treat. Retail therapy is another good option!

I’m just about to finish my first draft of a CB today. Already I know exactly how much of the story needs immediate changes before I can even think about an actual ‘full revision’. Writing is the easy stuff…then there is the bamboo-under-the-fingernails stuff: revision.

And anything with the words chocolate and pampering is always a good thing!

  4. Danyelle says:

    *hugs*

Good luck with your draft. πŸ˜€

I pamper myself by going to the bookstore and helping myself to a few (or more) tasty samples. Book buying, of course, is research. When I feel rundown or in need of a pick-me-up, I research. A lot. πŸ˜‰

  5. Deb Logan says:

I live for massages and pedicures…but those are few and far between. Chocolate works for me in between *real* pampering sessions! Oh! And reading a good book in the hanging chair under the gazebo *happy sigh*

  6. Rena says:

Good luck with your story, Christina. Love the picture and the idea of pampering yourself with unlimited Starbucks.

To me, pampering myself is something as simple as going to bed early and listening to music without any interruptions. But a good Starbucks doesn’t hurt either! πŸ˜‰

  7. sharazad says:

Starbucks and chocolate- sounds great. Add in a shopping spree at the used bookstore or a trip to the library, candle, some music and a long hot bath…

    Yes. That’s heaven.
    Great post.

  8. beth says:

Yay! Go pamper yourself. I’m planning a week of pampering when school (finally) lets out!!!

  9. Lenore says:

    Dark chocolate is the best!

I would pamper myself by taking a bath, but I don’t have a bathtub. So…hot shower. Nice and long with some Sugar scrub.

  10. A pedicure.. πŸ™‚ And chocolate. πŸ™‚

Have fun with your first draft.

  11. Kim Kasch says:

Oh good luck and maybe try a salted signature caramel hot chocolate – Starbucks of course.

    πŸ™‚

  12. Oh just reading all these ideas is already making me happy. Lots of happy thoughts here.

  13. Kate says:

I buy music and books and um, yes, I have to admit it, chocolate.

  14. C.R. Evers says:

I love, love, love my Starbucks lattes.

Go pamper yourself girl. You deserve it!

  15. Pen Pen says:

What is the pastry u posted the pic of?! I like it!! –makes me want to go to Paris!
Maybe ur husband-sensing u wanted to go- will bring u back something extra awesome! πŸ™‚

Good luck with ur editing!! I just got thru my first draft edit, and noticed that I had changed the name of a character half way thru the book without realizing it…. πŸ™‚

  16. Tomorrow, I’m going looking for CUPCAKES πŸ˜‰

  17. Vivian says:

The dessert looks heavenly! Best of luck with your book!
